Marvell in advanced talks to buy $83B Lumentum; investor calls deal 'nonsensical'

Bloomberg reports Marvell is in advanced talks to acquire data-center optics maker Lumentum, with an announcement possible as soon as next week—a potential megadeal in the AI infrastructure race. Lumentum's market value is $83B against Marvell's $221B.
The poster, firstadopter, argues the deal "makes no sense": LITE already represents a huge share of Marvell's market cap, leaving little room for a sensible premium or financing structure.
