a16z survey: AI now tops all 7 security priorities; 36% trust agents for low-risk actions
appenz · x · 2026-10-29
a16z partners shared findings from a survey of 100 security leaders on how AI is reshaping cybersecurity:
- Priorities flipped: AI wasn't a priority last year; now all of the top 7 initiatives are AI-related — AI SOC, AI code security, AI observability, and more.
- Trust rising fast: Orgs want AI with humans in the loop today, but 36% of leaders are comfortable letting agents take low-risk actions, expected to hit 60% next year.
- Teams still grow: About half of orgs plan to expand security teams and only 4% expect cuts — there's simply more work as risk increases.
- Security budgets grow alongside rising risk.
