annetgriffin · x · 2026-10-29
Lightspeed's CISO survey shows AI security risks escalating fast:
- Incidents rising: 79% of CISOs reported a confirmed or suspected AI-related incident in the past 12 months (up from 75%); 99% detected active AI-driven attack attempts.
- Hijacked agents lead threats: Compromised internal agents (51%) now tie with AI phishing/deepfakes (51%) as the #1 threat vector.
- Budgets growing: 85% expect bigger security budgets this year; 82% now allocate over 5% of security budget to AI initiatives.
- Security losing its seat: Only 21% of enterprises have security driving AI governance (down from 33%), while 21% say security isn't involved at all — yet security-led governance correlates with significantly fewer incidents.
