San Francisco-based AI styling app Alta has raised a $20M Series A led by Forerunner Ventures, with participation from Menlo Ventures, Aglaé Ventures and angels including Karlie Kloss.
- Users add clothes they own via photos, product links, video scans or receipts; Alta suggests outfits and renders looks on an avatar built from two selfies.
- More than a dozen specialized AI models power the product, and users have generated 20 million avatars and 700 million outfits.
- Alta also sells its styling and rendering tech to brands: it powers the AI in Rent the Runway's app, and Gap and Zimmermann have run try-on campaigns on it.
- Founder and CEO Jenny Wang studied computer science at Harvard and is a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree and Vogue 100 Innovator.
