Demo shows emergent 'in-context tokenization' beating fixed tokenizers
willdepue · x · 2026-10-29
A research screenshot demonstrates the emergent behavior of in-context tokenization: on text containing novel words (borvexila, mpralune), a hierarchical network consistently segments the new words as whole units in context, while a conventional tokenizer splits the same words into inconsistent fragments. A striking illustration of dynamic, learned tokenization at inference time.
