things-cli: Open-Source CLI and MCP Server Lets Claude Manage Your Things 3 Tasks
JordanMorgan10 · x · 2026-10-29
Developer mattt released things-cli, an open-source CLI and stdio MCP server for the Things 3 task manager. Reads go straight to the local SQLite database; writes use the Things URL scheme with journaling and read-back verification, since opening a URL doesn't prove success. Installable via Homebrew (brew install mattt/tap/things), macOS 12+, MIT licensed, supports database versions 22–29. The author's motivating use case: as a longtime GTD practitioner he was great at capture but bad at review, and pairing Claude with this CLI finally lets him keep his inbox under control.
