AWS Blueprint for an Enterprise Agentic AI Platform on Bedrock AgentCore
AWS ML Blog · rss · 2026-10-29
AWS ML Blog published a long post on building an enterprise Agentic AI Platform on Amazon Bedrock and Bedrock AgentCore. Its thesis: the blocker to production agents isn't models or tool use but everything around them — how many teams can build inside a secure environment, who owns each model and tool, how AgentOps and error handling stay within predefined boundaries, and how platform, workstream and finance teams see cost and health across accounts.
Operating models
- Centralized: one AI/ML team builds everything; consistent governance but quickly a bottleneck.
- Decentralized: each business unit builds its own; fast but controls drift, effort duplicates, cost visibility suffers.
- Federated: a central Platform team provides governed shared services while domain teams own their agents, tools and data — the model the blueprint implements.
Four planes
- Developer experience: a catalog of organization-approved, versioned agent templates, with reference templates for Strands, LangGraph and CrewAI.
- Platform control plane: publishes versioned templates and interfaces, operates Agent Registry governance records and shared Inference Gateways, admits models and Guardrails, orchestrates reviewed releases, aggregates fleet signals.
- Repeatable Workstream cell: each product/domain gets an isolated boundary with its own repo, Runtime, Memory and Tool Gateway, so failures and rollbacks stay inside one team.
- Assurance and operations: logs, metrics, traces, quotas, per-agent cost attribution and FinOps chargeback.
Key controls
- Governed model access: every untrusted inference request passes an approved inference gateway that applies Guardrails, restricts models and Regions per Workstream, and enforces rate limits, token quotas and budgets.
- Governed tool access: agents discover and invoke only approved tools through an authenticated MCP gateway with least-privilege roles, policy decisions and auditable ownership.
- Delegated delivery: Workstream teams ship and roll back independently inside pre-approved boundaries.
- Bounded evidence and lifecycle: proof required at model access, tool access, identity, release rollback and retirement teardown.
The post ships a companion blueprint to deploy a governed Workstream and validate its security and lifecycle contracts.
