Runway Dev plugin lets Codex autonomously build video-generation API integrations
runwayml · x · 2026-10-29
Runway has brought Runway Dev to Codex: a single plugin install gives the coding agent everything it needs to wire Runway's image, video and audio generation APIs into an app.
- The plugin bundles two pieces: the Runway Dev MCP, which supplies live context from the user's account (available models, per-model pricing, accepted inputs) and can act on it without copying IDs or settings between tools, and Runway Dev skills, which teach the agent to build integrations the way Runway would.
- Users describe what the app should generate and the agent plans, configures and debugs the integration on its own, without leaving the editor.
- Availability: Codex, Cursor and Grok Bot now; Claude Code listed as coming soon.
- Example prompts include checking this week's image-to-video error rate and building an ad-variation app with a router optimized for speed.
