tts-audiobook-tool uses an LLM to cast characters and generate full-cast audio dramas
llamabott · reddit · 2026-10-29
Developer zeropointnine demoed tts-audiobook-tool, which produces full-cast audio dramas where the narrator and each character get distinct voices.
Key pipeline:
- An optional prep step uses an LLM to identify characters and their dialogue lines, then maps them to configured voice clones;
- It identified dialogue from The Sun Also Rises with over 99% accuracy using the Deepseek Flash 4.1 API (the LLM's existing knowledge of the novel likely helped); a locally served Qwen 3.8 Flash Next should also work;
- Preferred TTS models are Breeze 2 TTS and MOSS TTS 9B, with a dozen-plus other models supported.
The tool is open source on GitHub with sample audio.
