Civitai models can legally be shared for free, Buzz paywalls don't restrict redistribution
ArtyfacialIntelagent · reddit · 2026-10-29
A Reddit user analyzed Civitai's ToS, base-model licenses and open-source code (with Claude Opus and ChatGPT independently, then a lawyer review) and concluded a model's license is its base model's license plus the creator's permission icons—none of which restrict free redistribution. Anyone can freely reshare checkpoints or LoRAs, even mirror the whole archive, paid Buzz or not, as long as license text is included. The major exception: MiniMax H3 and derivatives can't be distributed or used in the EU, UK, South Korea or the US without special permission.
