HP and Asus shift some PC production back to China as AI drives up costs
pstAsiatech · x · 2026-10-29
Per Nikkei Asia, HP and Asus are moving some PC manufacturing back to China due to AI-driven cost hikes. China remains the best option for building computers thanks to its experienced workforce, lower prices, and a complete supply chain ecosystem with full component access.
Companies are also sourcing more rare earths and components in China, as AI PC cost pressures reverse part of the earlier shift toward Vietnam and elsewhere.
