Google open-sources EmbeddingGemma 2, a unified multimodal embedding model for text, image, audio, video
google · hf · 2026-10-28
Google DeepMind released EmbeddingGemma 2, an open multimodal embedding model that natively represents text, images, audio, video, and combinations in a unified space. Key techniques include simplified per-layer embeddings and a multi-stage curriculum with modality and objective progression, delivering strong quality across unimodal, cross-modal, and mixed-modal evaluations — with an efficient, resource-flexible design and SOTA benchmark performance. Weights and paper (27-author team, Oct 27) are public.
