OpenBMB's MiniCPM-OCR pairs a 1.3B parser with a Jev verifier that scores OCR reliability
omarsar0 · x · 2026-10-28
omarsar0 highlights MiniCPM-OCR from OpenBMB and ModelBest: a 1.3B-parameter open document parser (Chinese/English, scans, photos, curved/tilted pages, key-info extraction) plus a second 'Jev' model that estimates reliability of extracted text, formulas, and tables — and works on outputs of other OCR models too. Jev only scores, it doesn't fix. Suggested pipeline: parse → score → route low-confidence output to humans or a correction step. Weights are open, with a fine-tuning framework and inference support for llama.cpp, vLLM, SGLang, and Ollama, plus Agent Skills integrations.
