AI Safety Crisis Is Here: Jarovsky Calls for Tech, Legal and Regulatory Action at Once
LuizaJarovsky · x · 2026-10-28
Privacy and AI governance scholar Luiza Jarovsky argues we are in a broader AI safety crisis: recent incidents — the OpenAI/Hugging Face case, the PHP vulnerability chaos — are symptoms of one crisis, not isolated events. She traces the roots to three factors: the fierce global race with China, intense competition among US AI labs, and weak technological, legal and regulatory mechanisms.
Unaddressed, the crisis could erode institutions and lead to loss of control over AI. She proposes three avenues that must be implemented simultaneously: technology, litigation, and regulation, each involving distinct strategies and actors. The piece includes a 4-minute video and previews her 11th AI Ethics & Governance Workshop on emerging AI security threats.
