XPeng's IRON solid-state battery enters small-batch production: 30% lighter, 30% more capacity
CyberRobooo · x · 2026-10-28
XPeng VP Gu Jie announced at the SAECCE conference that the dedicated solid-state battery for the IRON humanoid has entered small-batch production—about 30% lighter with 30% more capacity than liquid lithium-ion, with thermal-runaway containment and reportedly passing impact and nail-penetration tests. Other approaches: UBTech Walker S2, Boston Dynamics Atlas, and Hexagon AEON offer 3-minute autonomous battery swapping; Agility Digit 5 runs 90 minutes and recharges in 9 (early access H1 2027); Figure 03 packs a 2.3 kWh battery, 2 kW charging, and wireless charging coils in its feet; Tesla Optimus integrates a custom pack in the torso and could plug in Robotaxis. The real metric is productive hours per day, not battery life.
