SEO expert Lily Ray called out Google's AI Mode: searching for a quote in Google's own documentation, AI Overviews mistook her query for a chat; AI Mode's citations then pointed to third-party coverage instead of the actual Google page. She tagged Google staff: "this is a measurably worse experience for the user."
