Dev argues AI won't kill UI — we'll have more interfaces and instructions than ever
timigod · x · 2026-10-28
Developer Tim pushes back on the idea that AI will make UI disappear. Even if human-written code shrinks to 0.1%, the sheer scale of AI-built software means the volume of human instructions and configuration will keep growing.
His argument: every past wave of abstraction — compilers, cloud, dev tools — hid complexity but never reduced what we tell computers to do; it expanded what we attempt and manage. So the 'UI is going away' take is misguided: we'll handle far more UI, configuration, and instructions than ever before.
