Nicolas Cage said Madden's voice was 'anatomically impossible' — the movie got made anyway

Nicolas Cage told the director of the new Madden movie that John Madden's voice "may not be anatomically possible" for him to imitate, yet the studio went ahead and made the whole film anyway.
The post also retells gaming history: in 1984, EA founder Trip Hawkins pitched Madden on an Amtrak train (he feared flying), planning 7-per-side teams because home computers couldn't render 22 players. Madden refused — without 11 players it wasn't real football. EA ground on for about three years (dubbed "Trip's Folly") and shipped in 1988 with all 22 players on screen.
