Indie dev over 40: in the AI era code is worthless, users and distribution win
sven_ai · x · 2026-10-28
An indie developer reflects that after 40, the biggest advantage isn't technical skill but accumulated experience — knowing which requirements are fake, which partnerships are unreliable, and which money looks easy but is actually hard to earn. He now focuses time on a few genuinely valuable things instead of chasing every opportunity.
His key point: in the AI era, code is the least valuable asset. What once took months of development now takes days, but if you can build it, so can others. What ultimately matters is understanding users, mastering distribution, and selling the product. Making money matters, but time is more expensive.
