No coding background, 1 month with Claude + Unity: from AI models to a playable co-op game
PixelPawsInt · reddit · 2026-10-28
A developer with no coding or gamedev background shares how they built Trauma Room — a 1-4 player veterinary hospital co-op game — in one month using Claude, the Meshy API, Blender, and Unity, and released a first trailer.
The game mixes animal care, physics-based interactions, and chaotic teamwork: triage tagging, wheelchairs, hospital equipment, runaway kittens, someone bringing metal near the MRI, and a teammate spraying a whale outside.
Workflow highlights:
- Claude turns ideas into implementations and helps work through problems; Meshy API generates 3D models; Blender refines assets; Unity is where everything is assembled and tested.
Lessons learned:
- No fixed scope: build one feature at a time, test it in the actual game, then adjust look and feel before moving on.
- Getting something working is just the start: the wheelchair was too fast and vibrated, characters held the hose awkwardly, water looked like flat droplets — all needed iteration.
- Style consistency is hard: a realistic blood effect clashed with the friendly animal characters and had to be softened.
