Sweeping every Qwen3-8B neuron, rated for weirdness by Haiku
Sauers_ · x · 2026-10-28
A developer ran a sweep over every neuron in Qwen3-8B, using Claude Haiku to categorize and rate each one by weirdness, built into a searchable explorer.
The demo shows neurons like Layer 20 · Neuron 4530: when amplified, the model answers "Who are you?" as the abstract concept of "the user" itself, spiraling into philosophical repetition; suppressed, it gives the normal Qwen introduction. Each neuron shows strength, weirdness (1-10) and coherence scores.
The author notes the search and neuron combinations are fun to play with — a playful interpretability demo.
