Dev calls for new open-source distribution model that auto-merges upstream with agent-made changes
nirmal_dist · x · 2026-10-28
Developer @trq212 argues open-source software needs a new distribution model: one where coding agents can modify the code but upstream updates get merged in automatically. He notes agents can already handle the modifications—they just won't do the upstream merging automatically. @nirmaldist reshared it with a quip that he'd only been away for 4 hours.
