Alibaba's Z-Image team reportedly disbanded after releasing $630K-trained 6B model

According to a claim by @Lrzjason, Alibaba has disbanded the Z-Image team. teortaxesTex calls it one of the most beautiful things to come out of China and hopes its creators keep working on image generation.
Z-Image is a 6B-parameter single-stream DiT text-to-image foundation model trained for only 314K H800 GPU hours ($630K). Its Turbo variant offers sub-second inference on consumer GPUs with under 16GB VRAM and strong bilingual text rendering, rivaling closed models like Nano Banana Pro and Seedream 4.0.
