Google Research's 'sleep framework' lets LLMs keep learning, retaining up to 10M tokens

Google Research introduces a sleep framework for continual learning: alternating active interaction with offline memory consolidation (low-rank, MoE, synthetic routing, RL refinement) turns fragile short-term context into stable parametric memory. The approach lets LLMs continuously acquire new facts, retain long-context knowledge up to 10M tokens, and improve complex reasoning while mitigating catastrophic forgetting and static knowledge cutoffs.
