IAS advisory group demands OpenAI release withheld Yang-Mills and QCD proofs
rohanpaul_ai · x · 2026-10-28
The Advisory Group on Mathematics and AI (AGMAI) at the Institute for Advanced Study has publicly called on OpenAI to immediately release the natural-language and Lean outputs behind its claimed existence proofs for Yang-Mills theory, quantum chromodynamics, and a completion of the Standard Model. OpenAI says its model proved Yang-Mills existence on Sep 9 and QCD on Sep 18, with Lean verifying the first by Oct 16. Its Kakeya and Exponential Time Hypothesis results went straight to GitHub, while the physics files remain with reviewers led by David Gross. AGMAI argues that since Lean formalization is, by OpenAI's own account, complete, there is no scientific reason to delay — understanding should develop in the open.
