Axiom formalizes the Enormous Theorem: 15,000-page proof verified in Lean via AI agent swarms
kevinweil · x · 2026-10-27
Axiom Math has released the first complete computer-checked Lean formalization of the Classification of Finite Simple Groups (CFSG), the longest proof in mathematical history — roughly 15,000 pages across 500+ papers by 100 mathematicians. Over 24 days, engineers and mathematicians directed swarms of dozens of AI agents, producing 43.1 million lines of Lean code. Kevin Weil (Openai CPO) and mathematicians Ken Ono and Carina Hong were among those celebrating the milestone, a landmark for AI-driven formal mathematics.
