Open-source IELTS app Word Atlas goes viral: 7,298 AI-illustrated words
vista8 · x · 2026-10-27
Word Atlas (词光), an open-source and free IELTS vocabulary app by a developer on X, has hit 2.2k GitHub stars. It packs 7,298 words with original AI illustrations, UK/US audio, example sentences and FSRS spaced repetition, built with React + WebGL; the dataset is released under CC BY 4.0. The UI is striking — a particle-animated splash screen spells out the logo. Author vista8 notes you can simply ask Codex, Claude Code or Doubao to "install this project"; generating all the word audio and sentences alone must have cost plenty of tokens. An iOS version is in private beta.
