Claude Code security check finds years of 'deleted' iPhone photos in hidden PhotoData/Thumbnails cache

While backing up an iPhone to a MacBook, the author ran a security check with Claude Code, which flagged a hidden PhotoData/Thumbnails directory containing thousands of files — including years-old photos, screenshots deleted seconds after capture, and items already cleared from Recently Deleted.
The cache included sensitive material like old banking app screenshots, some of which the author recalls deleting more than once. The takeaway: deleting a photo on iOS removes it from the camera roll and Recently Deleted, but thumbnails can persist in the cache — a notable privacy risk.
