Machenta exits stealth with robot foundation model that learns new tasks from one demo

Machenta, spun out of work begun at Imperial College, has exited stealth with a new kind of robot foundation model for "Instant Robot Learning": the robot learns a new task instantly from a single demonstration, with no real-world data collection and no post-training.
- Trained entirely in simulation, without a single pixel of real-world data; in every demo video the robot has never seen the objects before.
- Showcased scenarios include reactivity and recovery, real industrial tasks, a one-person one-shot factory, and humanoids.
- The team argues for a paradigm shift: instead of hours of demonstrations and training per task, build models that capture how quickly humans learn — analogizing it to prompting an LLM, or "physical vibe coding."
- Next step: tripling down on the Bitter Lesson and scaling the simulation-driven approach.
