EU Governments Back GDPR Change Letting Firms Train AI on Personal Data Without Consent

EU governments approved a GDPR amendment that would let companies train AI on Europeans' personal data without consent. It would make AI training a possible "legitimate interest," judged case by case; the European Parliament must still agree. Privacy activist Max Schrems called it a "digital expropriation" of Europeans.
The poster mocks the irony: mandatory cookie banners claim to protect your privacy, while AI training on that same data would no longer require consent.
