OpenCode v2.2.0 adds desktop plugins and cache-friendly keyed session instructions
github-actions[bot] · ghdev · 2026-10-27
AI coding tool opencode shipped v2.2.0. Highlights:
- Create, install and share desktop plugins (experimental), plus a refreshed desktop app experience
- Experimental image generation and decision model APIs for plugins and the SDK, enabling image-gen or decision workflows
- Plugins can attach/update keyed session instructions via ctx.session.instructions.entry.put/list/remove: instead of editing the system prompt and busting the prompt cache, each change lands as a small update at the next step; entries survive compaction and reverts without an extra model turn
- Todo tool restored in desktop via opt-in
- Configurable prompt cache TTLs per provider/model
Breaking: @opencode/ai root now exports the Promise API; the Effect API moved to @opencode/ai/effect and @opencode/ai/promise is removed.
