Stanford robotics prof Allison Okamura: humanoids may be robotics' 'most unimaginative form'
danielrock · x · 2026-10-27
Stanford robotics professor Allison Okamura argues that despite the hype, humanoid robots may be "the simplest, most unimaginative form of robot" because they merely replicate what humans can already do, while many real-world tasks are things humans can't accomplish at all — like multi-print-head 3D printers fabricating a heart. A fascinating scientific challenge, she says, but ultimately limiting.
