OpenAI's 60-page ETH disproof gets compressed to 22 pages in real time
Singularitarian · x · 2026-10-27
Following OpenAI's claimed disproof of the Exponential Time Hypothesis, the community is compressing it in real time. Shiva Kintali has posted a self-contained, simplified 22-page version of the 60-page proof, targeting the basic statement of ETH without optimizing log factors, complete with a worked example; the paper is on his homepage and he has CC'd Gowers, littmath, and other prominent mathematicians for scrutiny. Whether the disproof holds remains contested, but this live simplification is itself a public stress test of the proof's readability.
