Anthropic cofounder Chris Olah was a 2012 Thiel Fellow alongside Dylan Field, starting from 3D printing and open-source design software. Data in the post shows the Fellowship's unicorn-founder conversion rate at 13.79% (40 founders, $29B in company value), dwarfing Harvard (0.16%), Stanford (0.26%) and even Y Combinator (1.82%). An Anthropic S-1 filing image also shows Olah holding 242.9M shares. The program's bet is on people, not their first idea.
