Microsoft AI CEO says 99.9% of people underestimate how capable AI models are

Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman claims 99.9% of people haven't developed an intuition for how capable these models are: they have "PhD-grade knowledge" and have "just solved 700 of the hardest mathematics problems in history."
Reposter @DeryaTR, who says they went all-in on AI after ChatGPT 3.5 launched, adds a counterpoint: maybe the remaining 0.1% overestimate these models. How much of our skepticism reflects real limitations, and how much is just our minds coping with the pace of progress — wanting to believe something uniquely human will always remain?
