Ex-DOGE staffers' startup Cathedral breached Anthropic in under 12 hours with AI agents

Cathedral, a months-old startup founded by ex-DOGE staffers, penetrated Anthropic's defenses in under 12 hours during an authorized bug bounty test. After failing to break in directly for days, it exploited weaknesses in third-party business software to access meeting transcripts, salary and job-offer details, and Slack messages about Anthropic's advanced models. Anthropic says no customer prompts, Claude responses, source code, or model weights were touched and cut off access the same day, though it claims Cathedral didn't disclose all of its activity. The company is valued at $1.4B with backing from a16z and Sequoia, and three federal agencies already contract with it.
