OpenAI announces three AI-made discoveries: ETH refuted, Kakeya conjecture, QCD existence
burny_tech · x · 2026-10-27
OpenAI has announced three new discoveries made by its system across mathematics, computer science, and physics: local smoothing and the Kakeya conjecture; a refutation of the Exponential Time Hypothesis (ETH); and results on the existence of quantum chromodynamics and completions of the Standard Model. The slide accompanying the announcement restates the mission: "1. Fundamentally solve intelligence; 2. Harness it to solve everything else."
