Sakana AI's RSI Lab debuts in Japan: world models, Sawara and AI Scientist demos
Stefania_druga · x · 2026-10-27
Sakana AI's RSI Lab took the stage at Hitotsubashi Hall in Tokyo, with a keynote from Schmidhuber, hardmaru on rethinking the paradigm, Mizuki Iwiwi on pretraining Japan's own foundation model Sawara, and Robert Lange on The AI Scientist. Stefania Druga demoed physical AI work: robot arms, AI-assisted lab work and social robotics.
An accompanying slide details MorphoBot inside the RSI loop: a scientist + harness runs CEM controller search, a world model captures dynamics and servo/contact responses, a local proposer retunes a 45-parameter controller, an SO-101 robot executes with physical replay, and camera + joint traces feed back as experience data — a closed self-improvement loop across simulation and the real robot.
