AtomGPT launches Ductility Explorer to screen JARVIS-DFT for hard-ductile materials
CatAstro_Piyush · x · 2026-10-27
AtomGPT released Ductility Explorer, a web tool that screens the JARVIS-DFT elastic database for ductile vs brittle materials using the Pugh ratio (B/G, boundary 1.75), Poisson ratio, and Chen Vickers hardness (Hv=2(k²G)^0.585−3). Users can filter by element sets, hardness ranges, and formation energy, then rank results to hunt for hard-and-ductile sweet spots or superhard brittle ceramics. The accompanying thread explains that hardness and ductility are one property with the sign flipped—resistance to vs capacity for plastic deformation—and positions the tool as fast triage before deeper single-material analysis.
