Colare raises $2.5M pre-seed to test hardware engineers via simulations

Colare, a recruiting startup for robotics and hardtech teams, announced a $2.5M pre-seed round. Its premise: resumes rarely show whether a hardware engineer can actually do the work. Colare runs simulation-based assessments of real engineering tasks — mechanical (CAD, DFM, FEA), electrical (PCB, schematics), systems, manufacturing and more — letting hiring teams watch how candidates work before booking interviews. Customers range from seed-stage startups to larger companies. The author argues the humanoid robots she covers daily are built by engineers who can tune motor controllers and debug firmware at 2 a.m., and better hiring is how more humanoids get built.
