Auroch Digital cuts 25% of staff as one dev claims AI can replace 50% of studio workers

UK studio Auroch Digital is laying off around 25% of its staff, citing a "turbulent and uncertain" games industry despite well-received titles like Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 and Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War!. Development on Warhammer Survivors and Boltgun 2 continues, and the studio is asking other devs to hire affected staff.
Quote-posting it, Syd Steyerhart argues AI can already replace over 50% of any game studio's staff — rising past 75% soon — with future nine-figure-budget studios run by one creative lead and a fleet of trained AI agents.
