OpenAI claims AI proofs resolving Kakeya conjecture, refuting ETH, half of Yang-Mills
rohanpaul_ai · x · 2026-10-27
OpenAI announced three claimed breakthroughs: a proof of the local smoothing conjecture in all dimensions (settling the Kakeya and Stein restriction conjectures), a Lean-verified refutation of the Exponential Time Hypothesis long assumed true in hundreds of papers, and a rigorous Yang-Mills proof covering half of the $1M Millennium Prize problem. Results are being shepherded by external expert groups, with proofs released on GitHub.
