LLM-Fueled Fake News Drove Her to Pay for an FT Subscription
juliey4 · x · 2026-10-27
Developer juliey4 spoke at INMA about her "brain rot bot," which went viral among news executives earlier this year. As a millennial who grew up on social media, she never expected to pay for news — but LLM-generated fake content made social platforms unusable, with manufactured rage loops wasting more of her time than the platforms were worth.
She now pays hundreds of dollars for a Financial Times subscription, praising FT's top-tier, broad coverage. But she also criticized FT's interface as essentially unchanged in 40+ years — cluttered inboxes and poor reading experience show legacy media has great content but outdated products.
