Neocloud stocks fall 4%+ as Musk predicts 'guppy-level death' for 200+ AI clouds

- Nebius, CoreWeave and Iren fell more than 4% premarket after Elon Musk predicted mass failure among neoclouds, saying debt markets have almost entirely closed to companies whose revenue depends on AI data centers.
- Gartner forecasts cost pressure will force over 80% of neocloud providers to cease independent operations by 2030; AI-optimized IaaS spending grows from $66B (2027) to $174B (2030) — too slow for most providers to recover investments before current AI chips are replaced.
- The math: AI data center owners would need $8.5T cumulative revenue through 2030 to cover capex, financing and a 12% return, versus forecast attributable AI revenue of at most $3.6T.
