Apple's GHARP animates photorealistic 3D heads in real time from a few photos

Apple ML Research presents GHARP (Real-time Gaussian Head Animation from Large-scale Reconstruction Prior), which animates 3D human heads in real time from a few input photos and a driving expression signal. The method decouples the problem into an offline identity stage that builds the subject's geometry and appearance representation (which can be expensive), and a runtime animation stage that predicts expression-dependent residuals on top of it. This separation yields a favorable trade-off between fidelity, quality, and runtime.
