Anthropic S-1: Over 90% of Code Written by Claude, AI Usage Exceeds Payroll
AlexTensor · x · 2026-10-27
Two data points from Anthropic's S-1 highlighted by FT's EdLudlow: over 90% of contributions to its codebase in September were written by Claude, with engineers increasingly directing and reviewing AI work; and by April, Anthropic's internal monthly Claude usage — valued at customer prices — exceeded its monthly cash personnel expense excluding stock comp. The open question: does this actually prove Claude is cheaper than the human labor it augments, and by how much?
