Claude's Opus 5.5 flags a beef tataki recipe question as a cybersecurity threat
gnuonyx · reddit · 2026-10-27
A user asked Claude how to make beef tataki over rice, only for Opus 5.5's safeguards to flag the message as a dangerous cybersecurity request and downgrade the session to Opus 4.8. Anthropic's notice admits the stricter safeguards can incorrectly flag non-cybersecurity work and says improvements are underway, with users able to apply for verification. The screenshot is a vivid example of over-tight safety guardrails misfiring on everyday prompts.
