AI Overviews on 80% of queries will make Google Search Console data a mess
lilyraynyc · x · 2026-10-27
SEO expert Lily Ray notes that with AI Overviews set to appear on 80% of queries (per seoClarity), Google Search Console's lack of AIO/AI Mode labeling or filtering will make position tracking very confusing.
You can now rank #1 via an AIO citation yet see near-zero CTR, mixed into your regular organic query data. She calls on Google to add filtering already, since low AI-result traffic and CTR is no secret.
