Qdrant Universal I/O thread (4/6): async read pipeline over one interface
qdrant_engine · x · 2026-10-27
Part 4 of Qdrant's engineering thread on Universal I/O: the same code now reads from local disk or object storage. Callers queue reads and collect results; each backend decides how to execute them, leaving the rest of the code unchanged. The diagram shows a synchronous pipeline on Tokio workers where reads are scheduled into slots immediately and wait() returns in finish order rather than issue order.
