Codex manager pattern: one orchestrator agent directing three specialized peer agents
testingcatalog · x · 2026-10-26
testingcatalog shares the latest Codex tricks, with talk screenshots showing Codex's manager orchestration pattern and a reusable "Manager Skill" prompt:
- Structure: you talk to a single Manager agent that dispatches three specialized peers — Build a feature, Investigate a bug, Run E2E tests; you can also steer a task directly, bypassing the manager.
- The Manager Skill recipe: give two peers one concrete outcome, shared constraints, complementary responsibilities, and an initial write split; both do substantive work and assemble the result; they coordinate directly and adjust their split within the authorized subsystem without overlapping edits; escalations go to the outcome, protected boundaries, or another lane's ownership.
A practical template for translating team-management rules into an agent skill for parallel multi-agent development.
